GT - gifted and talented

Welcome to Sierra’s Gifted and Talented!

Sierra Elementary School takes great pride in identifying, differentiating, and meeting the needs of our students who are high-ability learners! Sierra Elementary is committed to providing an environment where ALL students can succeed academically, socially, and emotionally as critical thinkers and problem solvers in a global society.

I am Stacey Battaglia, and I am the Gifted and Talented Teacher for the building. I am joining the Sierra community with 8 years of experience in teaching and learning! I have taught in a variety of settings and age levels - third grade, sixth grade science and math, 7th/8th math, and as a STEM teacher for 1st-5th grade. I am currently working on my Masters degree in Computer Science at Colorado School of Mines. I am excited to join this community of learners including students, teachers, and community members!

Programming at Sierra Elementary School for students who are identified as gifted and talented, as well as students who are high-ability, will receive services within the general classroom through small group work. Our programming will be following a push-in model for Gifted and Talented services, also referenced as GT services. With a push-in model, I will pre-plan with classroom teachers for core subject content to create lessons that will help elevate the skill that the unit is developing.

Keep in touch with the GT Program throughout the school year! We will have a monthly newsletter highlighting different topics such as what students are creating, how parents can help their high-ability child, and what professional development our staff is participating in to help reach the needs of GT learners.
